RCP Events Launches New Website

The Meetings and Events activity at London’s Royal College of Physicians has launched a comprehensively revised website, reflecting the venue’s recent rebranding. Using a brand new logo and a brighter colour palette, the website ( has been transformed in terms of look, content and functionality.

It is the first time that the venue has marketed its conference activities under a dedicated logo: previously they have been communicated under the Royal College’s original crest, which symbolises the organisation’s medical heritage. The new logo represents one of the RCP key selling points as a venue, its distinctive modernist architecture. The website encompasses the RCP’s unique heritage, its facilities and services and the distinctive event opportunities offered by individual locations such as its historic, wood-panelled Censors’ Room, the remarkable Dorchester Library, and the dramatic Council Chamber.

The first stage of the rebranding was the launch of a new conference and events brochure at the EIBTM exhibition in Barcelona last November.

While the rebranding has been under development for some time, its implementation has been accelerated by the RCP’s unprecedented progress in recent months as a national and international venue.  During the course of last year, it won the ‘Best UK venue for up to 250 people’ title in the UK’s annual Conference Awards, and then clinched the title of ‘World’s Best Convention Centre’ at the annual conference of AIPC, the International Association of Congress Centres. The latter was an unprecedented achievement for an academic venue, won in the face of competition from leading conference and convention venues throughout the world.

“The new website is perhaps the most important single manifestation of our determination to build on the progress we have made since we began to sell our meeting and events space on a commercial basis capacity back in the 1990s to help fund the College’s medical activities,” commented Clive Ostler, RCP’s General Manager, Marketing and Facilities: “Our overall rebranding is testimony to our development into a significant force in the venues sector, but one thing will remain constant:  that the revenue generated when our clients use our facilities will continue to help fund vital improvements in patient care around the world.”

The rebranding is reinforced by continuing enhancements to RCP’s facilities and services. Recent investments include enhancing the technical capability of both its 140 seat Seligman Theatre and its 300 seat Wolfson Theatre to accommodate HD video conferencing. Two of the RCP’s smaller adjoining spaces, the Linacre and Sloane Rooms, offering a joint capacity for 120 delegates, have also recently been refurbished to a high standard.

With its technical facilities reaching new heights, another significant development this year has been the appointment of the RCP’s first Technical & AV Manager, with the primary role of helping customers to optimise the technical aspects of their events.
