Sizzling summer party welcomes 150 guests for a 4th of July taste experience

The medicinal garden was in full bloom on a not-quite-glorious but warm and welcoming summer evening earlier this month, as we welcomed over 150 guests to the venue for our annual summer event, this year themed around Great British Food with an American twist, given the Fourth of July date!

Greeted with a special cocktail of Prosecco, combined with gin and elderflower, guests arrived at the end of the working day to take a moment to enjoy the garden and meet up with friends and colleagues. It was a delight to welcome back so many of our returning clients and of course to meet new acquaintances and introduce them to our beautiful award-winning venue and amazing events and catering team.

There was an array of great British produce on offer, provided in partnership with our caterer Fare of London and served with an American twist, including foot long hot dogs, or chilli dogs for the more adventurous, slow-cooked barbequed brisket of Sussex steer, lamb short ribs, popcorn, pulled pork and much more. Visitors were enchanted by tales of cheese by Tom Badcock, known as The Cheeseman, who gave a potted history of cheese through the ages, regaling fascinated guests with stories of different techniques to produce stunning textures and flavours, all of which has to be tasted of course to provide a fully immersive experience.

The team from family wine merchant Ellis provided wine tasting and tips on pairing while a furious competition was being battled out to notch up the most peas shelled in 60 seconds! Those with a sweet tooth were drawn to the delectable selection of desserts on offer, from pecan pie to blueberry cheesecake and  summer pudding, all topped off with a rich double cream for a touch of decadence. Live music from Azure Function Band provided the perfect ambiance for a fun evening with friends and colleagues in a relaxed setting.

There were some great tweets and pictures shared on the night, not to mention a fair number of prize winners who received hampers with tasty treats from our chefs and complimentary stay or dinner at the venue.  Our Meetings and Events Sales and Marketing Manager Natacha Allen summed things up nicely: “We were delighted with the great turn out for our annual summer party. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and to welcome new ones. We have had wonderful feedback from clients and look forward to welcoming guests again to the RCP.”
