Situated in the heart of central London, our iconic venue was designed long before sustainability became a key consideration. However, many of its original architectural features naturally support greener operations today. Expansive windows flood the Lasdun Hall and event spaces with daylight, reducing the need for artificial lighting, while the venue's award-winning Medicinal Garden provides a thriving habitat for wildlife and creates a peaceful setting for networking, breaks and outdoor events.

A smarter approach to waste

RCP London Events has implemented a comprehensive waste management strategy that ensures nothing is sent to landfill. Waste is carefully sorted into 19 separate streams, including plastics, glass, cooking oil, garden waste and textiles, allowing materials to be reused, recycled or recovered wherever possible.
Food waste that cannot be redistributed is processed through anaerobic digestion, generating renewable energy for the National Grid while producing nutrient-rich compost. Used cooking oil is transformed into biodiesel, and non-recyclable materials are diverted to energy recovery facilities.
To maintain these high standards, staff receive extensive training and waste management processes are regularly audited by our waste management company First Mile. This meticulous approach gives clients confidence that the environmental impact of their event is being actively managed from start to finish.

Sustainable catering without compromise

Food plays a vital role in any event, but it can also be one of the largest contributors to environmental impact. At RCP London Events, sustainability is embedded into menu planning without compromising on quality or creativity.
Crafted in collaboration with our catering partner, Company of Cooks, menus are designed around seasonal ingredients sourced by UK suppliers, when possible, with plant-based dishes given greater prominence, and excluding air-freighted fresh produce. The result is a range of flavourful, visually appealing options that prove sustainable dining doesn’t mean compromising on taste or variety.
By making responsible food choices simple and appealing, the venue helps organisers and guests reduce their environmental footprint while enhancing the overall event experience.

Renewable energy powering modern events

Energy consumption is another important consideration for sustainable events. RCP London Events operates using 100% renewable electricity and has invested extensively in energy-efficient infrastructure throughout the venue.
LED lighting has been installed across event spaces to reduce energy use, while ongoing investment in modern audiovisual technology, including LED digital screens, improves efficiency and enhances the quality of presentations and productions.
These initiatives reflect the venue's commitment to continuous improvement and demonstrate how thoughtful investment can deliver both environmental and operational benefits.

Protecting resources through sustainable gardening

The venue's renowned Medicinal Garden showcases how conservation and sustainability can thrive in a central London setting.
The garden is maintained using compost generated on site and wormeries that help recycle organic waste naturally. These methods reduce reliance on mains water and eliminate the need for chemical fertilisers. Low-flow water fixtures and carefully planned planting schemes further support efficient water use.
In addition, the garden is managed without pesticides, instead relying on biological control methods that encourage natural predators to manage pests and maintain a healthy ecosystem.
