RCP clinches success in National Conference Awards

The Royal College of Physicians, the venue overlooking London’s Regent’s Park, has achieved an important accolade in this year’s Conference Awards. It beat off competition from six other venues nationwide to clinch the ‘Best Conference Venue under 250 people’ title at the awards event on Friday 15 June.

The awards judge venues against a demanding set of criteria, including business performance, customer liaison and feedback, technology and catering support and success in winning new business.

The RCP has achieved consistent business growth during a period of austerity, and has sustained outstanding customer feedback ratings. Its appeal extends beyond the medical sector: recent events that it has hosted include the international meeting of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the BBC’s prestigious Dimbleby Lecture and the JMIC (Joint Meetings Industry Council) International Conference on Evaluating Meetings.

It is an iconic, award-winning, Grade 1 listed modernist building offering a distinctive combination of modern conference facilities and evocative heritage locations. Further opportunities to make events memorable include its medicinal garden and extensive museum collections. 70% of its business is repeat, through a rigorous approach to building customer relationships. Training is very comprehensive, and staff retention levels are exceptionally high.

In the latest VenueVerdict awards made by BDRC Continental, the leading market research organisation, the RCP was one of only 18 venues nationwide to be awarded a gold standard. The awards are based on ongoing customer feedback through the year, and embrace more than 350 high quality venues.

This year is the first time that the Royal College of Physicians has entered for the Conference Awards. “The organisers told us that quality and the quantity of entries had further increased on the high standard of previous years, so our success is particularly pleasing,” said Clive Ostler, the RCP’s General Manager, Marketing and Facilities: “Competition within our category was especially fierce, and we believe our award results from an exceptional combination of truly distinctive facilities and a comprehensive commitment to addressing and exceeding the needs of our customers.”
